Local Law 84 & 133>

Local Law 84 from 2009 began the process of building benchmarking for annual energy and water consumption. Subsequently, Local Law 133 has expanded the scope of Local Law 84 by adding more buildings into the fold.

Local Law 88 >

Local Law 88, from 2009, brings together two key requirements which require lighting upgrades to comply with New York Energy Conservation Codes by 2025. Furthermore, the law requires the installation of sub-metering for large non-residential tenants with the aim of encouraging lower energy consumption.

Local Law 95 >

Local Law 95 brought in the requirement to prominently display building efficiency rating grades in visible places on buildings. This signage is a part of NYC’s long-term objective of 40% carbon reduction by 2030 and 80% by 2050.

Buildings over 50,000 sq. ft. are required to perform energy audits and must submit Energy Efficiency Reports every 10 years. Audit outcomes and Retro-commissioning are a part of the compliance process.
